Triumph TR3

Another exciting job in the shop, I really like these cars. It’s been sitting for a long time and it’s in a pretty rough condition. It needs a bent chassis straightened, a lot of rust repairs and then it’ll be time for the fun part where we make it nice and shiny again. PPG single stage paint as usual, in factory white.

The TR3 is moving along nicely. The chassis has been completely repaired, blasted, painted and the owner has taken it home to assemble himself. The body has been blasted and then primed, we’re currently working on the fairly extensive rust repairs required. All the hanging panels have been stripped and epoxy primed and are being repaired as needed.

It’s been striped down for assessment, the body tub is ready for media blasting, we’ve started paint stripping the hanging panels and the chassis is on the table ready for some serious measuring.

Unfortunately this car was in extremely poor condition ofter blasting. There’s huge amount of work ahead of us…
The car required a lot of replacement panels, floors, sills, battery tray etc. Plus we fitted a lot of smaller panels that I made by hand.

The bodywork stages were quite complicated, there’s a lot of work in getting one of these cars to line up correctly. It’s very hard to find a good reference point. The effort is worth it though when it starts to come together and all the gaps and flow between panels starts to work really nicely.

After many hours of sanding it was finally time to put some colour on. Pearl white and it looks fantastic. I can’t wait to see it after the owner finishes assembly!
